What is POP3?

POP3 (Post Office Protocol)
Version 3 of the Post Office Protocol (POP3), was designed for user-to-mailbox access. Providing user authentication and mailbox manipulation. Authentication uses a password transmitted as clear text, so POP3 should be used carefully if security is of concern. POP3 typically uses TCP port 110.
